obidim village

Obidim is a picturesque village in southwestern Bulgaria, nestled in the Rhodope Mountains near Bansko. Known for its breathtaking mountain views, fresh air, and rich cultural heritage, Obidim offers a peaceful retreat for nature lovers and those seeking a slower pace of life. The village is home to traditional Bulgarian architecture, ancient churches, and a strong sense of community, where local traditions are still cherished. Surrounded by lush forests and hiking trails, it’s an ideal spot for outdoor activities, creative inspiration, and reconnecting with nature.

a little history...

The village was founded in the 14th century. During the Ottoman rule, the local population strongly preserved the Bulgarian patriotic spirit and as a result the village was burned down in 1903. In 1912 the village was finally liberated. The village land of nearly 65, 000 sqm, has a total of 13 churches, chapels, iconostasis and a monastery. Church of Saint Nicholas Chudotvorets was built in 1842.
